love is...

...Sunny days to sit in the park at lunch and eat the most perfect deli sandwich on Dutch crunch.

...stumbling upon a practice session during the work week, filling the air with memories of trumpet-playing Evan.

...thinking about the hours that Paul and I have spent in this spot, when we still worked together. The long lunches, the flirtation, running through this park giddily one day after work on our way to one of our first dates at the Elbo Room for the photo booth, love letters in the darkness, and the IPAs. And pinball.

...the people who call this city home, and all these visitors. Sharing what we share.

Love is the blues of the bay, the saltiness of the air, the way that seeing the Pacific makes me sigh and settles my soul a bit. Coming home.

...whimsy and delight to be found if you just look up once in a while.

...family coming for dinner, and sharing good times and good food with the people we love. Love is little red plates, garlic goodness, and homemade pineapple sorbet for dessert.

Love is this little dog waiting for his owner outside church.

...finding recipes we like. Things working out in the kitchen. A whole tray of veggie enchiladas steaming up the windows.

...Love is looking over and realizing we have created a weekend of beauty. Our still life.

Love is the first daffodil of the season. Flowers from your mother in law. And a big basket of lemons from her lemon tree too.

Hope you are feeling the love, my wonderful friends!
