a post about movies

All-time favorite movies that I could pretty much cry about right now because I love them so much:

Sleepless in Seattle:

"Well, it was a million tiny little things that when you added them up, they meant we were supposed to be together...and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home...only to no home I'd ever known...I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car, and I knew. It was like...magic."

You've Got Mail:

"Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life--well, valuable, but small--and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void."

Little Women:

"Jo, you have so many extraordinary gifts; how can you expect to lead an ordinary life? You're ready to go out and--find a good use for your talent. Though, I don't know what I shall do without my Jo. Go, and embrace your liberty. And see what wonderful things come of it."

League of Their Own:

"Batter up, the time has come..." (so many good lines, I can't choose!)

In America:

"We heard Manhattan before we ever saw it, a thousand strange voices coming from everywhere...
There's some things you should wish for and some things you shouldn't. That's what my little brother Frankie told me. He told me I only had three wishes, and I looked into his eyes, and I don't know why I believed him."

Corrina, Corrina:

"What you've got to say to yourself is, 'I am Molly Singer, and there's nobody in the world better than me.' Go on, say it while you walk!"

Sixteen Candles:

"I really love Rudy. He is totally enamored of me. I mean, I've had other men love me before, but not for 6 months in a row."

Love Actually:

"I thought, maybe if I was in the band, and played absolutely superbly, there's a chance that she might actually fall in love with me."

So basically, if you could pick up on the trend, I like chick flicks!  Paul and I definitely have a lot of overlap with the movies we like (we watch lots!), but we also have very distinct films that one of us loves to pieces, and the other is not so into it. His, mine, and ours. Works for me! I just love movies that are about love in some way, and that make me laugh and cry. And that I can keep coming back to like an old friend! I watch these when I am sick, or depressed, or just want some company. How bout you? What are your comfort flicks?

Sending love love love on this rainy Thursday!

:)

This was such a fun post! And I love that part shown in the screenshot for Love Actually. I love that whole movie though so maybe I am biased. :) Another one of my favorite "sick-day" movies is Love and Basketball. I just LOVE that movie!

Love and Basketball! I love that movie! Good one :) Tessa, if you are reading this, I feel like you used to LOVE that movie. Am I right? Now, I feel like I have to see it again!

Oh my goodness--I'm so glad someone else appreciates Love and Basketball! I feel like most people have never even heard of it! It is certainly in my top three movies, along with Love Actually and Family Stone.

Love and Basketball! Such a great one! You introduced me to that one, Tess. I love that we both love thinking about our Love Actually love when we abandoned studying in the library and went out immediately to buy the Love Actually soundtrack. One of my favorite library moments :)
